Meraki Health Opens Effingham Location

Updated: 5 days ago

Meraki Health has a new location in Effingham, Ill. for families seeking services for autism and related diagnoses. Services available include Speech, Occupational, Physical, Behavioral and Medical Nutrition Therapy, as well as Social Work. The Effingham office will focus on pediatric services, applying Meraki Health’s play-based therapy approach to facilitate the development of relationships to truly connect with clients on a personal level.

““My biggest inspiration is seeing the twinkle in the eye of a child who has learned how to communicate in a meaningful way (whatever that may be) and to see the joy in the caregiver who acknowledges it,” she said.

The decision to open an office in Effingham was easy, as Meraki Health has been serving the community for several years already. While the opening date for Meraki Health Effingham has not been determined, Sarah recommends calling to begin the intake process sooner than later.

“We anticipate after school appointments will be in high-demand,” she said. “If you want to seek services or even schedule a consultation to determine if services are appropriate for your child, now is the time.”

A licensed Speech Language Pathologist, Sarah worked in the Chicago area before returning to her hometown to work with an underserved area of the local population. Sarah’s background in early intervention and schools, as well as inpatient and outpatient skilled nursing centers and hospitals, gives her insight into how traditional services are structured. She used that knowledge to develop a resource close to home for many families accustomed to driving to larger areas.

By opening a location in Effingham, Meraki Health looks forward to offering medically-based pediatric services to the area. As the only private practice with Speech, Occupational, Physical, Behavioral, Medical Nutrition Therapy and Social Work under one roof, Meraki Health looks forward to serving the whole child.

In addition to working with clients directly, Meraki Health also offers education and coaching to caregivers, ensuring that the whole family has access to help clients do all the things that so many take for granted.

As a mother of three children who have respective diagnoses of ADHD, mild autism and spina bifida, Sarah knows firsthand that the services provided by Meraki Health can make a lasting impact to clients and their families.

“Our philosophy is to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to be heard and seen,” Sarah said. Meraki Health uses comprehensive and science-driven intervention to benefit the whole person so they can reach their potential for daily living and relating to others. “We want them to shine in the world despite any limitations that seem to be placed on them.”
